Google I/O 2016 – Learn About the Latest in Monetizing and Growing your Business With Google

Google I/O 2016 is less than a week away (May 18-20th), and we’ll be there. Google I/O is for developers — the creative coders who are building what’s next. This year they’ll be dozens of talks discussing important topics that matter to you like, design & development, monetizing and growing your business, and the latest in tech, mobile, and more.
Here are some of the key sessions we’d suggest you check out at I/O 2016:

Wednesday, May 18th
Join us to learn about product and platform innovation at Google, starting with a live kickoff from Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

The average smartphone user taps and swipes their way through 1GB of data each month. But how can you turn user behavior into meaningful insights that help you build a brilliant app? The answer is app analytics! In this session we'll explore the key metrics you need to know through the app lifecycle using real examples. From first release to a thriving user base, we'll show you how to detect user delight, user dissatisfaction and how to grow your app into a successful business.

Friday, May 20th
Find 'Em, Keep 'Em: How Ads Get You the Best App Users: 11:00 AM PST
Attracting valuable users is crucial for long-term app success. You want users who will stick around for longer than one session, earn you revenue and spread the word to their friends. Google's machine learning is helping the most successful apps find the right users with ads, and retain them. Getting started with Google ads is simple, yet unlocks a huge range of ad formats that promote your app to billions of users. In this session, master when and how to run ad campaigns, while minimizing costs.

Got a great app and want more users? Having a user acquisition strategy is crucial to global app domination, but it doesn't have to be a leap in the dark! This talk shines a light on how you can run both organic and paid app install campaigns to deliver real results in a cost-effective way -- and how analytics ties it all together. You'll learn how to track user acquisition performance, understand the right metrics to compare ad networks and see why lifetime value really matters.

If you're going to I/O and want to learn the latest about AdMob check out these sessions – "Earn more revenue from the AdMob platform" at 9:00 AM PST and "Create a great user experience with native ads" at 10:00 AM PST both at Stage 6 | Virgo. These sessions won’t be livestreamed, but we’ll post the recorded video on our blog post afterwards.

Even if you can’t attend this year and want to learn about what's happening at #io16 as it happens, we've got you covered! We’ll be live tweeting and sharing posts from the event on our Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ channels, using the hashtags #io16. We hope to see you there!

Join us as we announce the latest Ads and Analytics innovations on May 24th

Tune in live to the Google Performance Summit Keynote on Tuesday, May 24 at 9am PT / 12pm ET to hear the latest Ads and Analytics innovations.

We live in exciting times when technology seems to upend everything as we know, every few years. And nothing has changed consumer behavior and business innovation as much as the mobile phone. People are attached to their phones, tapping and swiping their way through places to go, stuff to buy, and things to do. This presents a tremendous opportunity for marketers to connect with customers in more meaningful, relevant ways. And Google is a key partner for advertisers, providing the media and tools to help you make those connections and measure the results.

To ensure we are building the right products for consumers and businesses all around the world, my team and I make it a priority to regularly visit our ads and analytics customers. Last year, we met with advertisers in India, Japan, China, the UK and Germany, and gained new insights from every country.

For example, in Europe, we learned that universal app campaigns are effective at growing installs across a broad range of app users. Now, advertisers want the ability to reach very specific audiences. In Asia, home to three of the five top smartphone markets, advertisers asked for more control and flexibility on mobile devices for both creatives and bidding. And in every country we visited, we saw customers working hard to integrate data from across their organizations and transform it into actionable insights. Marketers want better data to understand the customer journey across devices, contexts and channels.

We were all grateful for these insights and have been using them to build a whole new generation of Ads and Analytics products. We look forward to sharing many new innovations with you at the Google Performance Summit on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 9am PT / 12pm ET.

Register for the livestream here.

Until then, follow us on our +GoogleAds page for sneak previews of what’s to come.

Hungry for some Big Android BBQ?

Posted by Colt McAnlis, Head Performance Wrangler

The Big Android BBQ (BABBQ) is almost here and Google Developers will be there serving up a healthy portion of best practices for Android development and performance! BABBQ will be held at the Hurst Convention Center in Dallas/Ft.Worth, Texas on October 22-23, 2015.

We also have some great news! If you sign up for the event through August 25th, you will get 25% off when you use the promotional code "ANDROIDDEV25". You can also click here to use the discount.

Now, sit back, and enjoy this video of some Android cowfolk preparing for this year’s BBQ!

The Big Android BBQ is an Android combo meal with a healthy serving of everything ranging from the basics, to advanced technical dives, and best practices for developers smothered in a sweet sauce of a close knit community.

This year, we are packing in an unhealthy amount of Android Performance Patterns, followed up with the latest and greatest techniques and APIs from the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release. It’s all rounded out with code labs to let you get hands-on learning. To super-size your meal, Android Developer instructors from Udacity will be on-site to guide users through the Android Nanodegree. (Kinda like a personal-waiter at an all-you-can-learn buffet).

Also, come watch Colt McAnlis defend his BABBQ “Speechless” Crown against Silicon Valley reigning champ Chet Haase. It'll be a fist fight of humor in the heart of Texas!

You can get your tickets here, and we look forward to seeing you in October!

Just 5 Days Until the DoubleClick Leadership Summit Live Stream

On June 17th at 9 a.m. ET, join us for a live stream broadcast from the DoubleClick Leadership Summit, our annual event bringing together industry leaders for a conversation about the future of digital marketing. We’ve received several questions about what to expect from this year’s event. Below are some of the most commonly asked questions, and what we are able to share for now.

Remember to register here and tune in to the live stream for the full scoop!

The theme for this year’s summit is “Own the Moment.” What does that mean?
Thanks to mobile, we’re currently in the midst of one the largest shifts in consumer behavior ever. What we’re finding is that consumers are no longer “going online” in long digital sessions, but turning reflexively to the nearest device to solve an immediate need in countless moments throughout their day. For marketers, the next big challenge -- and the one we want to help them solve -- is how to effectively reach consumers at those moments in a relevant and engaging way. You can expect to hear much more about this at our summit.

Who are some of the speakers we can expect to hear from this year?
We’re really excited about our slate of speakers both from within Google and from our partners. Laura Desmond, Starcom MediaVest Group’s Global CEO, will join us to talk about how brands can amp their relevance and impact with velocity marketing. We’ll also be joined by The New York Times’ EVP & Chief Revenue Officer, Meredith Kopit Levien who’ll do a deep dive on the topic with Laura, while sharing a publisher’s perspective.

This event is usually full of announcements. What will you be announcing this year?
You can expect a heavy focus on mobile this year and innovations that we’ve developed to help large advertisers, agencies and publishers succeed in a multiscreen world. We’ll touch on new ways both marketers and publishers can create engaging experiences for the mobile environment, as well as how marketers should be thinking about measuring every moment that matters.

Sign up for the live stream now!
