Jamboard now available for purchase in Australia and New Zealand

Over the past year, we’ve announced that Jamboard, our cloud-based, collaborative whiteboard, is available for purchase in an ever-growing list of countries such as the United States, Canada, the UK, and select parts of Europe. We’re now expanding that list further, bringing Jamboard to Australia and New Zealand.

G Suite customers in Australia and New Zealand can now purchase Jamboard for $7,999 (AUD), which includes two styluses, an eraser, and a wall mount. See the table below for pricing.

Keep in mind that a G Suite license is required to use Jamboard so that you can access files from Drive, use them in your brainstorms, and come back to your work later.

G Suite customers based in Australia and New Zealand can contact their Google Cloud sales rep, our distributor, BenQ, or visit our website to learn more about how to start jamming with colleagues today.

Additional information about Jamboard
In addition to the Jamboard device, the Jamboard app is available on Android and iOS for all G Suite customers. When used on a tablet, the Jamboard app allows users to experience similar features as they would on the Jamboard device. On a smartphone, the app functions as a companion for the Jamboard device.

Usage of the Jamboard app is controlled by a service on/off switch in the Admin console, and is off by default.

Check out the Help Center for more information, including an FAQ section.

Jamboard files now appear in Google Drive

With Jamboard, it’s easy to enrich your team brainstorms with the power of G Suite. For example, you can grab images and content from the web and bring them straight into your “jam,” pull in work from Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, or add photos stored in Drive.

To make the Jamboard experience even more integrated with G Suite, the jam files you own will now appear in your Drive folder. This means you can easily open, copy, and share jam files from My Drive and Team Drives, and save jam files from Jamboard to My Drive.

With this launch you can:

  • Share jam files directly from Drive.
  • Open jam files from Drive in the Jamboard web and mobile applications.
  • Search for jam files in Drive (by entering “type:jam” in the Drive search bar).
For more information on using Jamboard, check out the Help Center.

Automatic document closeout, custom backgrounds and more with the latest Jamboard release

Jamboard helps businesses collaborate more efficiently by bringing the power of the cloud into their team brainstorms. With this latest Jamboard release, we’re adding new features to help you customize that experience for the unique needs of your organization.

Automatic document closeout
Jams can now be automatically closed if left open on a Jamboard kiosk for longer than a period of time if/when configured by the admins. This feature is configurable in the settings page of the Jamboard Admin console under “Document Timeout.”

Custom backgrounds
Users can now select custom backgrounds for their jams. There’s a list of 7 unique background and patterns to choose from. Each background will be applied to the jam across all devices.

Custom screensaver messages
Admins can now create a custom message in the Jamboard Admin console settings page under “Screensaver Message.” This message will display as a ticker on the Jamboard screensaver.

Object connectors
You can now connect shapes on the Jamboard together by drawing lines between them.

Landscape support for mobile devices
Users can now interact with jams in landscape mode on both iOS and Android Jamboard mobile apps.

Autodraw, external camera/speaker support and more with the latest Jamboard release

As we continue to add new features to the overall Jamboard experience, the latest Jamboard release brings several new features―to both devices and the Jamboard app―to help people more easily and efficiently get their ideas out. We’re also adding a new feature to help admins to manage the ownership of Jams within their domain.

Autodraw
As we announced earlier this month, we’ve added Autodraw to Jamboard. AutoDraw is a new drawing tool in Jamboard that auto-detects sketches you make and pairs them with images. This gives teams the ability to make their ideas even more visual—whether you’re a creative designer working with clients or even a teacher working with students.

Ownership sharing configuration for unclaimed Jams
To ensure that Jams get assigned to the correct owner, we’re adding an email confirmation step to claim an unclaimed Jam. Once an admin has enabled this option, when working with an unclaimed Jam, users will need to confirm ownership via email before they are added as an owner. Users can enter multiple in-domain email addresses to confirm ownership, directly from the Jam. Those user(s) will receive an email asking if they’d like to claim the document and the first user to confirm becomes the owner.

This feature prevents sharing of content before an owner is assigned.

Admins can configure this setting (which is off by default) for the domain in the Jamboard Admin console.

Animated frame changes with page numbers
Whenever you change a frame on your Jamboard device, we now will show a distinct frame-change animation along with the page number.

USB camera support
Users can connect a USB camera and select which camera feed they want to use (either USB camera or internal camera) in the settings panel of the Jamboard kiosk.

S/PDIF audio support
Users can attach external speakers to the board via S/PDIF (a rear port on the back of the device for optical audio). For a full list of new features and improvements from this month’s release, check out the What’s New in Jamboard page in the Help Center.

An invitation you’ll want to accept: updates to G Suite meeting room hardware

(Cross-posted from The Keyword)

TJ Varghese, Product Manager, G Suite
Katie Roberts-HoffmanProduct Manager, G Suite

We’re working closely with customers and industry experts to shape the role of technology in meetings, and we want to make it easy for teams to work together face-to-face, anytime, anywhere. A big part of getting this right is working closely with IT, AV and facilities leaders to understand how we can solve some of their challenges which is why this week, we’re at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) conference in Amsterdam to learn from AV and systems integration experts about how we can help them make meetings easier.

Over the past few years, our team has worked diligently to evolve Google Hangouts, create cost-effective, reliable meeting hardware and reimagine how teams brainstorm. Today at ISE, we’re announcing updates to make these meeting solutions even better for enterprises, including:

  • Expanding Jamboard and Hangouts Meet hardware to new countries
  • Adding AI-powered autodraw to improve your jams
  • Offering more Hangouts Meet hardware options for larger rooms
Here’s what’s new.

Jamboard updates: EU expansion and adding AI-powered AutoDraw

Businesses in North America and the UK are using Jamboard to collaborate, and now teams in Europe can jam together, too. Next month, Jamboard will be available for purchase in eight additional countries: Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, France, Spain and Finland.

Along with expanding Jamboard to new markets, we’re also adding an AI-powered feature called AutoDraw. AutoDraw is a new drawing tool in Jamboard that auto-detects sketches you make and pairs them with images. This gives teams the ability to make their ideas even more visual—whether you’re a creative designer working with clients or even a teacher working with students.

We also recently welcomed the Jamboard app as a core service in G Suite. For everything else Jamboard, check out google.com/jamboard.

Hangouts Meet hardware updates: more options for larger rooms

Fast video meetings are the most effective when they’re available everywhere. Today, we’re also expanding Hangouts Meet hardware—our latest meeting solution—to two additional countries: the Netherlands and Denmark, bringing the total to 14 countries.

Until now, the Hangouts Meet hardware kit has consisted of a touchscreen controller, speakermic, ASUS Chromebox and 4K sensor camera, great for capturing small rooms. While this has made it easy for some businesses to collaborate straight out of the box, we want to ensure the kit is scalable to any room size. So today, we’re adding options for larger rooms:

  • A new Hangouts Meet room kit that comes with a Logitech PTZ Pro 2 and accommodates up to 20 people. The camera can capture details with 10x optical zoom, and you can pan and tilt to focus on participants.
  • A standalone Meet speakermic to keep audio quality crisp in bigger rooms. Custom designed and built by Google, the speakermic intelligently reduces echoes and manages background noise. It’s easy to daisy chain up to 5 speakermics together to bring great quality audio to every corner of a room.
To learn more about Hangouts Meet hardware, check out our website or reach out to your Google Cloud representative or your reseller.

And if you’re attending ISE, stop by our booth at B200 in Hall 15.

Jamboard now a core G Suite service

Last year, we introduced Jamboard, a collaborative digital whiteboard device with accompanying mobile and web applications, designed to take creativity and collaboration to the next level.

Under the hood, the Jamboard service allows G Suite admins to manage their Jamboard devices, and enables G Suite users to interact with jam content on their phone, tablet, or on the web. Jamboard combines the same collaborative benefits of real-time co-editing as other G Suite applications like Google Docs with a blank canvas that allows ideas and projects to come to life. We’re excited to announce that starting today, the Jamboard service will become a core G Suite service.

What this means:
  1. The Jamboard service is now covered under your existing G Suite agreement and offers the same technical support and service level commitments as any other core service.
  2. The Jamboard service will be removed from the list of Additional Google Services and added to the list of core G Suite services in your Admin console.
Note that the Jamboard service is launching default ON, but will respect your setting for opting in to new services.

To learn more about how a Jamboard device (currently available in the US, UK, and Canada, with more countries coming soon) can pair with the Jamboard service for the best possible team collaboration and creativity experience, visit the Jamboard website.
