Your music. Your home. Better together.

It’s never been easier to enjoy the perfect music for any moment with Google Home and Google Play Music. Forget digging around for cords or adapters, needing to find your phone, or combing through your CD collection—when you combine Google Play Music and Google Home, you can enjoy the perfect song or playlist with a simple voice command.

Say you’re making pizza and your hands are covered in flour. Just say, “Ok Google, play music for cooking” and we’ll serve up the perfect tunes, like our R&B Kitchen Dance Party playlist. If you’ve had a long day at work and are too tired to move a muscle, say “Ok Google, play music for relaxing” and get a playlist like Mellow Pop without lifting a finger.

Google Play - Google Home Device

The right music for your home

Google Play Music uses machine learning and information like weather, activity, and location to give you the right music for what you're doing right now. This helps deliver the best contextual music recommendations for any situation. All you have to say is “Ok Google, play some music,” and you’ll get the perfect music for your home.

Since Google Home is powered by the Google Assistant, you can ask questions like “Ok Google, who sings this song?” and tell it to do things like “Ok Google, turn it up!” You can even say “Ok Google, thumbs up this song” or “Ok Google, play something else” to help us learn more about your music preferences and serve you better recommendations.

If you haven’t tried Google Play Music yet, starting today through February 27, you’ll get six months of Google Play Music for free when you buy a Google Home device.* Complete your home music system by adding a Chromecast and get $15 off when you buy the two together.

Experience the music

But don’t take our word for it—come experience Google Play Music and Google Home yourself. We’re throwing a block party in Los Angeles (February 11-12) and New York City (February 24-26), and you’re invited! We’ve built a tiny neighborhood with three mini homes and invited Wong Fu Productions, MyCupcakeAddiction, and Us the Duo to show how they use Google Play Music with Google Home.

Check out our webpage to learn more. We hope you can join us this weekend in LA or later this month in NYC!

Google Play - Tiny Home

*With Purchase. Ends 2/27/17. Redeem by 3/6/17. $9.99/mo. charge unless you cancel before trial ends. New subscribers only. Terms apply.

Your home just got smarter with new Google Assistant partners

Connecting your Google Assistant on Google Home to other devices around your house can simplify your day and help you get more done. Last year we announced that Nest, Philips Hue and Samsung SmartThings are all available on Google Home to help you control your lights, thermostats and switches—with more partners coming soon. Today, “more” have arrived—you can now add Belkin Wemo and Honeywell to that list.

With Honeywell and your Google Assistant on Google Home, you can conveniently manage your home’s temperature without leaving the comfort of your covers—just say "Ok Google, turn the temperature up downstairs.” And when you’re headed out the door, Belkin Wemo and your Google Assistant can help you remember if you turned off the lights—just say “Ok Google, did I leave the bedroom lights on?”

To set up Home Control from your Google Home, go to the Google Home app, select settings and then select Home Control, and click “+” to add a new device. We're also bringing Home Control to Pixel soon.

Looking for more ways to get things done at home? Try IFTTT, a platform that lets you combine hundreds of different services in new ways. With IFTTT on Pixel and Google Home, you can create custom voice commands for your Google Assistant. So instead of saying “Ok Google, turn on the living room lights,” you can say “Ok Google, I’m home” (or another command of your choice) to turn the lights on.

With the Google Assistant, we want to make it as simple as possible to get things done from anywhere, whether you’re at home or on the go. With today's addition of Belkin Wemo and Honeywell to the Assistant on Google Home—and soon, Pixel—it’s easier than ever to control your smart home and get on with your day!

(Google) Home for the Holidays

It’s that time of year. Holiday music, sweet treats, classic movies — all the reasons to cozy up and spend time at home with the ones you love. And with Google Home, there are countless ways to spread the holiday cheer.

Play Netflix on your TV with the magic words “Ok Google”

Serve up the holiday classics that make your season bright, hands-free, right to your TV — when Google Home is paired with a Chromecast device. Now, in addition to YouTube videos, you can stream any movie or TV series from Netflix to the TV, using just your voice*. Start with “Ok Google, play Stranger Things from Netflix on my TV” or “Ok Google, play Love Actually on Netflix on my TV”. You can even control your media with commands like “Pause this episode”, without lifting a finger. Here’s how to link your Netflix account to the Google Assistant from the Google Home app (make sure you’re running the latest version). Netflix linking in the Google Home app is available now for iOS and rolling out to Android this week.

Enjoy your Google Photos on the big screen, hands-free.

The holidays is the perfect time to gather around and relive memories from the year. Google Photos now works with Google Home, so you can share your photos on your Chromecast-connected TV, using just your voice. Simply say, “Ok Google, show my photos of Lake Tahoe on my TV” to see your beautiful pictures bigger. Even if you can’t remember the name of the album, you can search for pictures. Try “Ok Google, show my photos of selfies at Christmas on my TV” or “Ok Google, show my photos of Brazil sunsets on Chromecast”. You can even use your voice to search for your places, things and people.

Learn how to link your Photos account to the Google Assistant here.

Fill your home with festive tunes from your favorite music apps like Google Play Music, Spotify, Pandora, or YouTube Music with just a simple voice command. Say, “Ok Google, play Hanukkah music” or “Ok Google, play Christmas music” and you’ll get into the spirit in no time.

Keep track of Santa

Whether he’s preparing his sleigh or already in flight, your Assistant keeps you informed of Santa’s latest whereabouts (tracked by Google Maps). Just say “Ok Google, where’s Santa right now?”
