Google adopts Privacy Shield

Yesterday, we submitted our certification of adherence to the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework.

The Privacy Shield establishes a new way to comply with European Union data protection requirements when transferring personal data from the EU to the United States during transatlantic commerce. As outlined in our Google Europe blog post, this is a significant milestone for the protection of Europeans’ personal data and promotes trust in the digital economy.

Google has committed to applying the Privacy Shield’s principles and safeguards to EU-U.S. transfers of personal data. No action is required on our customers’ part to benefit from the protection of this framework. Google’s certificate will soon be accessible here.

In addition to the Privacy Shield, we’ll continue to offer EU Model Contract Clauses to our Google Apps and Google Cloud Platform customers. Millions of organizations rely on our cloud services to run their businesses, and we’re committed to helping them meet their regulatory requirements by maintaining a diverse set of compliance tools.
