Beta Channel Update for Chrome OS

The Beta channel 53.0.2785.36 (Platform version: 8530.35.0) has been released for Chrome OS devices. This build contains a number of bug fixes, security updates and feature enhancements where we are introducing the Play store on Chromebooks. The Play store on Chromebooks is still in Developer Preview and some features may not work as intended. Chromebooks that are supported include Acer Chromebook R11, Asus Chromebook Flip and Google Chromebook Pixel (2015). A list of changes can be found here. Systems will be receiving updates over the next several days.

The Stable channel has been updated to 50.0.2661.103, 50.0.2661.104 (Platform version: 7879.74.0, 7978.76.0) for all Chrome OS devices except Pinky 11.6" Chromebooks and Asus Chromebit. This build contains a number of bug fixes, security updates, and feature enhancements. Systems will be receiving updates over the next several days.

Some highlights of these changes are:
  • Bluetooth names clearer and consistent
  • Chrome browser updated to use material design
