The Dev channel has been updated to 54.0.2817.0 (Platform version: 8673.0.0) for all Chrome OS devices except Asus Chromebook Flip, Acer Chromebook R11 and Google Pixel (2015). This build contains a number of bug fixes, security updates and feature enhancements. A list of changes can be found here.

The Beta channel has been updated to 51.0.2704.29 (Platform version: 8172.16.0) for all Chrome OS devices except Pinky 11.6" Chromebooks, Asus Chromebook flip and Asus Chromebit.. This build contains a number of bug fixes, security updates and feature enhancements.

Some highlights of these changes are:

  • Material Redesign for Media Players 
  • Ability to choose keyboard layout of extension IME 
  • New notifications for dual-role Raiden devices (Chromebook Pixel 2015)
  • Add Video preview and album cover as thumbnails in Files App

Stable Channel Update for Chrome OS

The Stable channel has been updated to 48.0.2564.116 (Platform version: 7647.84.0) for all Chrome OS devices. This build contains a number of bug fixes, and security fixes. Systems will be receiving updates over the next several days.

Security Fixes
Note: Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed

  • [579179] High CVE-2016-0728 Kernel keyring refcount leak. Credit to Credit to Fermin Serna, Michael Schaller, Neel Mehta, Tom Payne and the Google Prod Security Team.
