Today, we’re announcing the v25 release of the Google Ads API. This major release brings support for new reporting features and goals. To use these new capabilities, you must upgrade your client libraries and client code. All the updated client libraries and code examples have been published.

New Features

Here are the highlights of what’s new in v25:

• YouTube Ad sub-format breakdowns: You can break down YouTube instream non-skippable ads by duration (standard, max 30s, max 60s) using the new ad_sub_format_type segment. This segment must always be selected together with the ad_format_type field, and is selectable with AdGroup, AdGroupAd, Campaign, Customer, Video, and VideoEnhancement resources.
• YouTube Shorts social metrics: You can now retrieve video-specific social metrics to help track user engagement (comments, likes, and shares) for Shorts ads on YouTube. These metrics are available in reports for AdGroup, AdGroupAd, Asset, Campaign, Customer, and Video resources.
• Loyalty retention goal: The retention goal in Google Ads is designed to drive customer loyalty and high lifetime value (LTV) within your business. You can now optimize your campaigns for retaining loyalty program members. Configure campaign-specific settings (including bid adjustments and showing member benefits in Product Listing Ad format) or account-level settings.
• New customer acquisition goal (Revamped): We’ve updated the new customer acquisition goal feature to reflect the revamped unified goals schema. The legacy CustomerLifecycleGoal and CampaignLifecycleGoal resources and services are removed. You should now configure these goals via the Goal and CampaignGoalConfig resources.
• YouTube channel insights consent features: You can access detailed YouTube channel insights (average views, likes, comments, engagement rate, and audience attributes) for creators who have consented to share non-public data.
