Project Fi welcomes Android One, with the moto x4

With Project Fi, we set out to make your wireless experience fast, easy and fair—with access to three national 4G LTE networks, and international roaming at no extra cost. But many of you have asked us for more options for high quality, affordable devices that work with Project Fi. We've heard you and we're excited to launch our newest phone for Project Fi: the Android One moto x4.

We took some important steps with Android One earlier this month by expanding the program to bring a fresh, secure software experience designed by Google to more high-quality devices no matter the price point. The launch of Android One moto x4 on Project Fi is the next step in our commitment to work with more partners and expand Android One to new places.

Packed with a pure Android experience, advanced hardware and great network connectivity, here’s a closer look at what you’ll get with the new Android One moto x4.

Best-in-class software experience designed by Google

Like all Android One phones, Android One moto x4 runs a pure Android experience, with a clean software design and a carefully curated set of preinstalled apps to give you just what you need. For example, it comes optimized for the Google Assistant to help you get more done, and offers high-quality video calling with Google Duo. You’ll also get access to the latest updates from Android, such as Android Oreo before the end of the year. Android One moto x4 will be among the first to receive an upgrade to Android P.

Powerful cameras and unlimited high-quality photo storage

The Android One moto x4 comes with three cameras. A 12MP + 8MP dual rear camera system lets you capture wide-angle photos and detailed portraits. The front-facing camera comes packed with 16MP and an adaptive low light mode. And with free high quality storage from Google Photos, you never have to worry about running out of space.

All day battery and ultra-fast charging

Power through the day and enjoy your favorite Android software features like battery saver. When you need to recharge, TurboPower™ charging makes it ultra fast: You can get up to six hours of power in just 15 minutes.

Top of the line security

The Android One moto x4 will receive timely security updates and built-in malware protection from Google Play Protect, working around the clock to keep your device, data and apps safe.

The Android One moto x4 is priced at $399, comes in Super Black and Sterling Blue, and is available only in the U.S. on Project Fi’s network. You can pre-order it on the Project Fi website starting today. If you've got an older Nexus phone and want to trade it in for a new device, we're making it easier than ever with our new trade-in program. We’ll give you up to $165 for select Nexus devices, and if you start your trade-in for an Android One moto xby October 5, you’ll earn an extra $50 Fi credit.

On your mark, get set, refer!

Last December we launched the Project Fi referral program as a way to make sharing Project Fi with friends easier. Many of our users have gone above and beyond with their efforts, sharing Project Fi with friends, online communities, and even strangers at the airport.

As our way of saying thanks, today we’re launching a Fi Referral Challenge. We’ll be awarding Fi subscribers special prizes for their referrals—on top of the standard $20 Fi referral credit per referral. While we’re excited about all of the prizes, we're especially eager to meet the participants who bring the most new subscribers to Project Fi. Our top three referrers will score a trip to Google headquarters and spend time with the Project Fi team.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can earn for the referrals you make from now through September 25:

Prizes in Project Fi's Race to Google HQ

If you’d like to participate in the the challenge, remember to enter here and share your Project Fi referral code with friends and family by text, email, or on social media.

For additional information on the Race to Google HQ, feel free to visit our FAQ. Best of luck to all participants, and we hope to see you in Mountain View!

Project Fi now available for G Suite customers

With Project Fi, we aim to provide a wireless service that helps you get a high-quality connection wherever you areat home, on the go, or even abroad. We’ve designed the service to intelligently shift between networks so you’re always connected to the best available signal, whether that's Wi-Fi or one of our three 4G LTE partner networks.

While Project Fi had been available to users with @gmail.com addresses, starting today we’re making G Suite compatible with Project Fi, allowing users (currently US only) to sign up with their G Suite accounts (e.g. [email protected]). Project Fi is off by default, so G Suite admins will need to enable Project Fi in the Admin console.

Note: Project Fi limits group plans to six users; it is not designed for large enterprises.

Check out the Help Center for more information.

Call it even with Project Fi’s group repay

More than 75% of adults share their wireless plans with at least one other person.1 And while it’s nice to share a plan with the people you love, splitting the bill can be tough. It takes work to calculate how much each person owes and can feel awkward to remind others to pay you back.

To take the headache out of sharing your wireless plan, today we’re introducing group repay—an easier way to split your Project Fi group plan bill. Each month, we’ll calculate participating members’ portion of the bill, send out payment reminders, and provide a simple way for members to repay plan owners directly through Project Fi.

Know what you owe—no math required

You shouldn’t have to pull out a calculator every month to figure out everyone’s share of the phone bill. There are many different ways to split the bill, but whatever you decide, Project Fi will do the math. Once you’ve selected the option that works best for you, Project Fi will automatically calculate the correct amount.

Fi manage repay

Easy setup, reminders, and payments

Any Project Fi plan owner or member can set up monthly repayment reminders with group repay. If you’re a plan owner, simply select a repayment amount for each member. When it’s time to pay the bill, Project Fi will send repayment notifications to group plan members.

Thanks to an integration with Google Wallet, sending and receiving payments is just as simple. Plan members can simply tap the notification and hit “Send Money” to complete the request. Owners can even cash out repayments automatically to a debit card or checking account.

Fi send money

One simple place to view, manage, and track payments

We know it’s hard to manage all of your monthly bills, so we’ll help you track your Project Fi payment history. With group repay, you can easily view your full payment history and payment statuses for the current month.

Fi Group Repay

Getting started with group repay is easy. If you are currently on a Project Fi group plan, simply navigate to your account billing section to manage your settings. We're beginning to roll out this feature today, and it will be available to all Project Fi users by the end of the week.

Finally, for a limited time, when Project Fi plan owners add a new member to their group plan, both will receive a free month of Fi Basics. For more details, see our FAQ.

Is Project Fi right for you?

Choosing a new wireless plan is a big decision. There are a lot of things to consider—like coverage, prices and devices. But how do you know if you’ll get what you’re looking for?

With Project Fi, we want to make your entire wireless experience simple and easy. That includes deciding whether Project Fi is the right wireless service for you—or not. We built the Fi Fit Quiz, a tool that provides a personalized assessment of your potential experience with Project Fi. Just answer five quick questions, and we’ll help you do the following:

Check your coverage where you live and where you go: We’ll help you understand what kind of speeds you can expect, whether it’s your work, school or home. Feel free to try multiple addresses.

Estimate your monthly Project Fi bill and compare to your current plan: Use our interactive calculator see how your costs change with additional data usage or additional plan members.

View device compatibility and explore Project Fi-ready phones: We’ll let you know whether or not your current devices are built to intelligently shift between Project Fi’s network of networks. If your phone isn’t equipped for the Project Fi network, you can get the scoop on our Fi-ready devices and our 0% interest financing option.

Finally, whether you’re looking for a second opinion or wanting to share your results with friends and family, it’s easy to share right from your report. If you’re already a Project Fi member, pass along the quiz to any friends considering Project Fi (along with your referral code, of course, so that both of you can receive a $20 credit).

Happy Holidays from Project Fi

‘Twas four weeks before New Year’s, when all through the land,

Project Fi subscribers were chatting, Pixel or Nexus in hand

As they bustled about in their holiday scurry,

Multiple networks had them covered, there was no need to worry

With data credits racked up, bills charged very rationally,

There’s savings to fill stockings and take trips with Fi internationally.

From hot chocolate to ice skating, joyous time with their clans,

They looked forward to bonding — and maybe a new member for their group plans!

But before the celebrations begin, with friends far and near,

Fi would like to say thanks, and help spread the cheer:

Four wonderlands scattered with treats and surprises,

Holiday fun for Fi subscribers, of all shapes and all sizes.

Enjoy this small gift, wrapped under the tree,

Click below to get started — let us know what you see!

Introducing Project Fi’s group plan

With Project Fi, wireless service is simple and easy -- you get seamless access to three 4G LTE networks, use data abroad at no extra cost, and you send and receive texts and calls across multiple devices. Last week we expanded our device options to include Google’s new Pixel phones, and today we’re excited to introduce Project Fi’s group plan: an easy way to share Project Fi with the people who matter most to you.

With Project Fi’s group plan, you can now have up to six people on one plan, making it easier to pay your bill, track data usage, and manage settings for everyone, all from one place. Project Fi’s group plan comes with all the features you know and love, along with a couple extras.

Easily add new members

Whether it’s your group of friends from college or your family, you can invite new members to your plan at any time at $15/month per line for Fi Basics (unlimited talk and text). And just like with individual plans, you only pay for the data you use at the same $10/GB rate. If you end up using less than you planned for, you’ll get the unused data credited back in dollars and cents.

Project Fi_Highlights.png

There are no commitments or contracts, just as with individual plans. Members can easily join and leave a plan as they please without having to worry about fees. And when it’s time to pay, there’s just one bill with straightforward pricing.

View and manage data usage

With Project Fi’s group plan, we put plan owners and members in control of their data. Members can easily view their own data usage from the Project Fi app, and managers can view usage per member. No more guessing how much data each person used!
Project Fi_CurrentCycle.png

Both members and managers can set data notifications to help pace their usage. And managers can add data safeguards for even more control — you can set monthly allowances per member and pause data service if a member goes overboard. We also show data usage breakdowns per app to help you figure out what’s driving usage and make informed decisions.

Phones are an important part of any group plan which is why in addition to supporting Google’s new Pixel devices, we’ll continue to offer the Nexus 5X and 6P through the Project Fi site. To help you set up for your first group plan, we’re offering $100 off the Nexus 6P, and $150 off the Nexus 5X, when you buy and activate through Project Fi.

Project Fi’s group plan is available starting today. For those of you who are already a part of Project Fi, you can start your group by inviting people (including existing Fi subscribers) from your Fi account page. For those thinking about joining Project Fi, you can visit our website to learn more.
